In Sonar Songs the spectator is watching calm water that does not reveal its scale. Only when a foot appears on the surface it becomes clear, that it is not a whale watching tour.
Sonar Songs questions the fascination of these tours, where you never actually know if and what animal you are going to see. Of course people get their money back, when the tour is unsuccessful but what exactly is it, that marks such a tour successful? Could the top of a fin be enough?
